Hammersmith Bridge

I live in Hammersmith, West London, and here we have quite an impressive landmark, Hammersmith Bridge.

Apart from newer pedestrian only bridges, Hammersmith Bridge is one of only 3 suspension bridges crossing The Thames - the two others are Chelsea Bridge and Albert Bridge. Both Albert Bridge and Hammersmith Bridge (IRA tried to blow it up) are a bit weak and heavy traffic, such as double decker buses, were not allowed to cross the bridge.

The Bridge is now closed indefinitely to all motor traffic from April 2019 after cracks were discovered in the bridge's pedestals. The closure was extended to pedestrians and cyclists in August 2020, it was not even allowed to sail under the Bridge.

At the moment politicians are arguring with each other who shall pay for the repair, and in the meantime nothing happens.
